Today I came across a phrase in Hebrews 2:8 about Jesus. It says “…he left nothing outside his control.” It’s meaning is that Jesus rules over all and controls it all. I know a verse in another book points out that in Him all things were made and He holds all things together. In all, it sounds like nothing slips outside of Christ’s reign. So, why do I not trust Him completely?
I’ve thought, recently, about relationships I’ve had. At the time of each one I thought it to be the best. Some were good, some were not. And it’s just how they go in life, right? But, like I said, at the time I thought they were the best. A lot of times I hear about what’s happened to these girls, and there are a couple that I find I’m glad that God didn’t let me end up marrying them.
But, there was no way to see that at the time. I think that’s the point. My mistake was not trusting Jesus, who controls all things. I believe He’s orchestrating everything for the best of all, and it means that it’s in Him too. Often, I’ll complain to Jesus why things couldn’t be as I wanted them. Down the line, of course, I have the realization that it’s better to have not had things go the way I want. Where He stopped me, I was a little angry. But, He stopped me for the best, like a dad stopping his child from going into the street.
So, again, why do I not trust Him completely? I still don’t fully know. I sometimes don’t remember these when life keeps going on. Slowly these recollections come back, and they are keeping me from more mistakes along the way. Less of the Lord having to pull me from the street.
