Reading through Genesis 27 I thought about why this blessing is so significant. It’s strange to us, but it was essentially the inheritance. Jacob was the second-born. He was not supposed to receive the blessing and inheritance of the first-born. It is why Esau sobs.

I realized this is actually a prophecy and allegory to us with Christ. We are the second-borns. Yet, when we accept Christ, we get the rights and blessing and inheritance of the first-born. We don’t deserve it. There is nothing we have done to have it. Just as Isaac saw Esau when Jacob tricked him, the Father sees Christ’s righteousness in us and we receive the blessing. This is huge! We have all rights as the first-born including the protection of the Father. We have every blessing of the first-born, Christ, because of the Father and Christ’s sacrifice.

Mourning Must Come
I can do all good through Him
